Our Value for this Half Term is Responsibility

"We are to be responsible for the way we act toward others" (Luke 10:30-37)

In year 2 we have enjoyed looking at the value of responsibility. We have discussed the things that we need to take responsibility for at home, in school and in our environment.

Maths

As part of our Maths learning this half term we have been looking at addition and subtraction. We have started to use the column method.

English

In English we have been looking at the story "The Dark" by Lemony Snicket. We used charcoal pencils to draw what we thought the dark looks like. We did an amazing job!

PSHE

In PSHE we have been learning how our class is like one big family. We read a interesting story and then we came up with ideas why we enjoy being part of the St George's family.

RE

During our RE lesson we have been looking at what charities are and what they do to help support people and animals in need. We also looked at ways in which we could raise money or support a charity. We then worked with our learning partners to organise the charities into different categories in terms of who they help.

History-Rosa Parks

For our learning of who is  Rosa Parks and why   is she important? We enjoyed creating a timeline of Rosa Parks life and also discussed the important work that she did to help make the world a better place.

We have continued our learning about Rosa Parks discussing why Rosa Parks wanted to stand up against racism. The children had amazing ideas and being emphatic. We then went into pairs and created a protest poster as if we were alive at the time of Rosa Parks.

Science

In science we have been learning about        materials that are waterproof and materials that aren't waterproof. We painted some paper and it absorbed the liquid. We then added a wax crayon design to the paper and painted over it.  The liquid stayed on top, this means the wax is waterproof.
