Welcome to our St George's website. Our value this term is Justice.

Community Links

At St George’s CE Primary School, we believe that community links are essential in the growth, development and wellbeing of all our pupils.

Strong links with not just our local community but communities worldwide help us to build relationships with groups and individuals who will provide positive role models for our children.

Please look below at some of our community links:

Supporting charities:

We work closely with local foodbanks and help to support them in their work with regular donations provided by our families.

We are a fairtrade school and show our children that they have the power to make a difference in the world and how we are connected to other communities. We raise money for the charity on a regular basis with Fairtrade tuckshops and our recent Year 6 Leaver hoodies were sourced from Fairtrade cotton. We have also raised funds for Embrace, a Christian middle eastern charity that transforms lives and restores the dignity of the most excluded and marginalised in their communities.

Stay & Play

Every Thursday morning Mrs Ratcliffe and our team of local volunteers are joined by some of our families who have pre school children. It’s a chance for the little ones to play, sing songs and have some fun while the grown ups get chance for a chat and a cup of tea.

Wake up Wednesday

On Wednesday mornings we have a group of ladies with children at the school from all different nationalities who join Mrs Ratcliffe in lots of varied activities. They go for walks, visit local museums and libraries and it’s a chance for everyone to get to know each other and boost their confidence and friendships.

Family Learning

St George’s works in partnership with ACE the local adult learning centre in providing various courses for local families to gain new skills. We offer English classes, healthy cooking, reading with children courses and lots more. Some of our past learners went on to do further education at the local college and have gained more qualifications!

St George’s Church

We are proud part of our local church family. Children attend church regularly and take part in Services in various ways. Our presiding vicar, Jeremy Bentliffe, is a frequent and welcome visitor to our school: leading us in Collective Worship and visiting to support RE in school.

Student Placements

We work in conjunction with local colleges including ASFC to train outstanding teachers of the future. St George’s hosts many placements for these trainees, helping them to observe, practise and deliver high-quality teaching.
