Summer 2 2025
Let all that you do be done in Love
1 Corinthians 16:14
This half term we will be exploring the question:
English
In English, we have continued our work on Curiosity the Mars Rover. We have had our own naming compeition for a Mars Rover. There were a lot of interesting names to chose from but the winning name was 'Courage' as you would need to be brave and have courage to set out and explore space and another planet. We have inferred characters feelings from our story and looked at what NASA called 'The seven minutes of terror' (when Curiosity was landing on Mars). We have had a class discussion on if we think humans should go to space or if the money should be spent on somehting else.
Maths
In maths, we have continued our work on decimals and have looked at adding and subtracting decimals with the same and different decimal places. We have looked at working out decimal sequences and multiplying and divding by 10,100 and 1000. We have moved onto looked at the difference between positive and negative numbers and counting through one.
Science
In science, we have continued to look at properties and change of materials. We have continued to look at the different ways we can seperate a solution. We have performed an experiment using a range of equipment looking at the different ways to seperate a mixture.
We have also looked at investigating which material would be best for filtering a solution of water and sand.
Geography
In geography, we have being exploring our learning challenge of 'Why would you visit London?'. We have explored the different cities that make up the UK and looked at the 8-points of a compass and ordnance survey maps. We have moved onto looking at what makes a capital city a capital city and researched the different religions, languages and landmarks that can be found in London. We were then fortunate enough to go on a school trip down to London. Although the day was hot and tiring, we all had an amazing time exploring London and seeing the sights.
