A Prayer for Compassion and Kindness

Lord Jesus Thank you for people who have shown compassion and kindness to us and given us the courage to keep going even when times were tough. Remind us this week, when we put on our school uniform, to put on the attitudes of compassion and kindness in all that we do. Amen

A Prayer for our Mums on Mother's Day

Dear God, Let us be thankful for our mums especially on Mother’s Day. Help us to show our love for our mothers in every way we can each and every day. Even when our mums get cross let us remember that they only want the best for us. Help us to make the right choices and to always remember our value compassion. AMEN

A Prayer for London

Dear God, We think of the people in London who have been killed or injured because of the terrorist attack. Please be with them and their families during this very difficult time. Let them know that you will be there to pick them up just like in the Footprints poem. Amen

Our Hall Display for Compassion

Through our learning about compassion we have listened to the poem 'Footprints in the Sand'.

The poem shows us how God is always with us even when things are really hard or in times of trouble. The poem finishes: "The times when you have seen only one set of footprints, are the times when I carried you."

In our classes we have been thinking about different ways we show compassion;

Nursery, Reception and Year 1 have thought about different words to show compassion. Year 2 have thought about different ways of showing compassion. Year 3 and 4 have looked at ways we have shown compassion in our lives and those who show compassion to others. Year 5 have written prayers of compassion. Year 6 have written their own poems based on 'Footprints in the sand.' We have made our own footsteps to show our reflections .

Year 5 Response Assembly for Compassion

Year 5 responded to our value of Compassion on Monday by sharing what they had learned from Collective Worship this half term, remembering some of the things we have done such as: filling Advent Bags, Singing for Pole Bank, raising money for Traidcraft and our Lenten Challenge. The children created dramas, retold stories, read poems and prayers.
