Fairtrade Fortnight 2018

Fairtrade Fortnight 2018

A massive thank you for everyone’s support during Fair Trade Fortnight. The Break the Rules Day and Coffee Afternoon raised £260 to be sent to the Fair Trade Foundation. The Fair Trade Stall which the children from the Ethos Group ran had a wonderful sale and took over £140

FAIR TRADE FORTNIGHT 26 February to 11 March 2018
We have lots of this happening during Fairtrade fortnight:  Fair Trade assembly will take place on the 28 February for the children. The Fairtrade Stalls will take place on Thursday 1 and 8 March at breaktime and after school at 3.15 pm. Change the Rules Day is on Friday 2 March. The Fairtrade Coffee Afternoon with a cake sale will take place on Thursday 8 March.

Planning for Fairtrade Fortnight

Ethos Group are busy planning for Fairtrade Fortnight this year.

They are leading an Assembly, having a stall both weeks, running a coffee afternoon with Fairtrade baking to invite parents to "come in to Fairtrade" and planning a day where we pay to" break the rules!" Mrs Walker is looking at their ideas and deciding on the best. Any money raised will be doubled by the Government under the UKAID scheme.

Assembly

Ethos Group led an assembly to start Fairtrade Fortnight.

Break the Rules Day

Year 6

Fair trade - year 6 have worked in groups to discuss where bananas come from and how they get from the tree to your house.  They had to show the correct order, using photographs, from the plantation to the supermarket. They discussed the role of each stage in this process and they had to imagine the banana represents £1 and decide how much of a pound each area should get.  They were surprised how little people were paid and now realise the importance of fairtrade.

Cooking Club

Cooking Club enjoyed making these delicious cakes using Fairtrade Ingredients.
