Fairtrade Fortnight 2016 - 29th Feb to 13th March

Martin Luther King famously said, "Before you finish eating breakfast in the morning, you've depended on more than half the world".

Fairtrade Fortnight 2016

During Fairtrade Fortnight, we will be encouraging our school to think of lots of different Fairtrade breakfast ideas to share. Please watch this space.

Where did my breakfast come from.

Ethos group – Fairtrade Fortnight

St Georges have been working very hard planning, helping and collaborating together to set up Fairtrade Fortnight. The school have done a lot of things to do with this, including; hosting a Fairtrade breakfast for the school, manning a Fairtrade stall, and they also had the people who were doing the good to be green treat people making the chocolate muffins and banana muffins. Melissa, who helped make the muffins said “I enjoyed making them, and I would love to do it all again!”

Fairtrade Fortnight started with some of the Ethos group doing an assembly about how bananas are grown; Mrs McKeown was also there to talk to everyone about what they would be doing during Fairtrade Fortnight.

Ethos group were also very busy in manning the Fairtrade stall, where they had to decide on all the prices, but make sure that the school was making their profit; Mrs McKeown was also on hand helping them with the stall. Thankfully they had lots of volunteers to help with the stall and they had lots of keen customers!

The Fairtrade breakfast also went very well, we had lots of people bringing in money  for their breakfast, we also had a Fairtrade slogan for this; ‘SIT DOWN FOR BREAKFAST, STANDUP FOR FARMERS’ The school took it in turns having their breakfast and they really enjoyed themselves.
