Carnival by Year 1 and Reception

Reception and Year One used what they had learnt about different countries and cultures to put on a carnival which parents and friends were invited along to.  The children learn about jungle animals, what it is like to live in Rio, music and dance from different cultures, and what food grows in hot places. They applied what they had learnt to design animal costumes using the correct patterns, create decorations for the carnival and moving models of jungle animals.  Then lots of fun was had parading to carnival music, just like they had seen in the Rio Carnival

Year 4

Year 4 Tapas Tasting Presentation to Parents

On Friday 16th February Year 4 presented a restaurant of tasty tapas for their parents and friends to try. They worked very hard to prepare this tongue tantalising tapas during the week and collaborated really well in their groups. 

They chopped,peeled,sliced,cut,poked,mixed,poured,mashed and stirred a wide range of tapas. The menu, which they planned and researched, included patatas bravas, Spanish tomato bread with or without serano ham, chorizo and pepper skewers, Spanish omelette, manchego, chorizo and olive bites, cucumber and feta nibbles and sangria. It was well supported by parents and friends and everyone had a great experience.

“I think it was a success!” Said Adara.

“My favourite bit was making the tapas but my mum’s favourite bit was definitely tasting it!” Poppy said when reflecting on the experience.

Rosie commented, “The tapas tasting session was fun. I liked the Spanish omelette best. It’s a good thing to do again!”

Year 5

On Wednesday afternoon children presented this half term's learning to their parents. In groups of 4 the children devised their own ways to present what they have learnt this half term. Some children used models that they had made to demonstrate how the planets move, others recited poems and prepared quizzes for the parents to participate in. The visitors who came to watch all commented positively about how much the children have learnt and their creative ideas for presenting.
