Wednesday 8th July

English – Day 4 – Study the progressive form of verbs, past and present and identify these then use in own writing.

Maths - Day 4 – Tell the time on analogue and digital clocks focussing on reading and writing times to the next hour.

Daily challenge:  Can you create or learn a dance move to a song of your choice?

Friday 10th July

English – Day 5 – Learn how to use the perfect form of verbs, past and present, in writing poetry.

Maths - Day 5 – Think about units of time, time events and record the results on a bar chart.

Daily challenge: Write a diary of all the new experiences that you have had since we had to stay safe at home.

Monday 6th July

English – Day 3Provide some teacher input, using the PowerPoint presentation on present and past tense.  If children can access this, they hear the voice-over teaching which make the exercises much easier to do.  They read a fun poem and use the Portrait Poem template to write their own version. 

Maths - Day 3 Provide some teacher input, using the PowerPoint presentation* on telling the time on both analogue and digital clocks. If children can access the PowerPoint, they hear key points explained. They practise recording analogue and digital times, first to five-minute intervals and then to one minute.

Daily challenge:  Write your own quiz! Think of at least 10 questions and answers. Email Mr Nuttall and let him know you have these if you would like to lead our quiz on Thursday.

Tuesday 7th July

English – Day 4Provide some teacher input, using the PowerPoint on the progressive form of verbs. If children can access this, there is a voice-over teaching.  They read a poem about rolling down the hill, which stimulates work identifying and using the progressive form of verbs. 

Maths - Day 4 – Children rehearse number bonds to 60 (25 + 35, 20 + 40, etc.), then focus on telling the time on both analogue and digital clocks to the next hour. They practise this skill, then extend it using a problem-solving investigation.

Daily challenge: Complete some mindfulness activities. It may be listening to calm music, colouring, or even tasting things slowly and using your senses to explore the food such as looks, tastes, smells or sounds.

Thursday 9th July

English – Day 5Provide some teacher input, using the PowerPoint on the perfect form of verbs.  Once again, there is voice over teaching for children who can access it.  They identify perfect form and then use this in writing their own version of a poem, based on one read.   

Maths - Day 5 – Children use their understanding of units of time (hours, minutes and seconds) to time events, then record the results in a bar chart. They also interpret bar charts of the same type.
