Welcome to Year 6 in Autumn 2

Whole school

Reflective Area

We are enjoying using our reflective area in class and completing the challenges linked to wisdom.  Zainab, Aaron and Kieron our new reflective area leaders this half term, have worked hard to plan and set up this area for us to use.

Class Collective Worship

Our class Collective Worship was lead by Michelle, Evie-Mai, Yusra and Ashley.

'We read the story of King Solomon and asked the class who showed wisdom and why?' Michelle.

Our Chatter Chums

Year 6 met their chatter chums at Charnley House for the first time. They enjoyed chatting to them whilst doing a range of activities like colouring, crosswords and jigsaws.

House Collective Worship - York

Our worship leaders, Zakir and Louisa lead the house collective worship for York, looking at the value of Wisdom. They told the story of King Soloman. Then they set a challenge to write a prayer about wisdom and put it in the prayer box which will be used in our next collective worship.

Learning Ambassador

Learning ambassador work has been a hit! The children have enjoyed teaching each other ways of learning times tables and maths strategies and they are tested at the end of each week.

Remembrance Day

To commemorate Remembrance Day each class made a poppy for our Remembrance Window in the hall.

This half term

This half term our whole school question is 'Can you imagine a world without words?'

The question that we will be investigating is 'Why were words so vital to the war?

In art with Mrs Taylor we developed a selection of art skills in a variety of media to create our portraits of Winston Churchill. Our portraits are displayed in the computer suite.

WWII Assembly - Why were words so vital to the war?

Year 6 enjoyed sharing their learning with the rest of the school and their parents.

Buddy Work

Year 6 enjoyed spending time with their buddys decorating christmas biscuit.
