Welcome to Spring 2 in Year 5

Visit to Catalyst Museum of Chemistry

This week Year 5 were lucky enough to visit the Catalyst museum of chemistry in Liverpool. We had a great time applying our scientific skills to make neutral medicines which would help treat heart burn. The museum was really interesting and the children had a great time. Thank you very much to Hawk's chemicals of Hyde who sponsored our inspiring day.

Class Assembly

Today was Year 5’s class assembly. We presented our learning about the Ancient Greeks to the whole school and our parents. Our assembly included a re-enactment of the Trojan war story and an explanation of where our learning journey took us.

Puppet Shows

Last half term Year 5 were investigating 'Was the Trojan war worthwhile?' To share our learning with we planned, wrote, edited and performed puppet shows which told the story of the Trojan war. We made our puppets in Art and DT and then brought them to life with our scripts. Year 1 were a great audience and we really enjoyed showing what we had learnt. Important Notes

Thank you for your continued support with your children’s learning. It is great to see when parents have supported and encouraged children to express their creativity through their choice board homework.

READING- It is very important that your child remembers to bring their reading book to school EVERY DAY and takes it home to read at night. Please encourage them to read and develop their love for reading- it could be any text type. Remind children that they are responsible for changing their reading book regularly. We visit the school library every Wednesday.

HOMEWORK- Please continue to support your child with their homework. Homework books must be signed by a parent and handed in on a Wednesday so that they can be marked and prepared to be handed back on the Friday. Please encourage them to choose a variety of different challenges from the choice board.

PE KITS- Please remember to keep your child’s PE kit in school so that it is available for all PE lessons. It can be taken home at half term to be washed. Thanks
