Welcome to Year 4 - Spring 2018

Year 4 Tapas Tasting Presentation to Parents

On Friday 16th February Year 4 presented a restaurant of tasty tapas for their parents and friends to try. They worked very hard to prepare this tongue tantalising tapas during the week and collaborated really well in their groups.

They chopped, peeled, sliced, cut, poked, mixed, poured, mashed and stirred a wide range of tapas. The menu, which they planned and researched, included patatas bravas, Spanish tomato bread with or without serano ham, chorizo and pepper skewers, Spanish omelette, manchego, chorizo and olive bites, cucumber and feta nibbles and sangria. It was well supported by parents and friends and everyone had a great experience.

“I think it was a success!” Said Adara.

“My favourite bit was making the tapas but my mum’s favourite bit was definitely tasting it!” Poppy said when reflecting on the experience.

Rosie commented, “The tapas tasting session was fun. I liked the Spanish omelette best. It’s a good thing to do again!”

Redrock Cinema

We went on the bus to the new Redrock cinema in Stockport on Friday to watch Ferdinand. We had a great time in our own private screening making ourselves comfortable on the extra large reclining chairs. It was a brilliant movie and has given us lots of things to discuss back in class linked to our topic on Spain.

Year 4 Spring Letter

Happy New Year to everyone!

Thank you for all the parents, grandparents and other family or friends who came to our last project-based learning presentation linked to robots. Your support was amazing. The children were really enthusiastic and proud to show you their creations. Please look out for our next presentation date and make sure you can come- it will be worth your time!!

READING- It is very important that your child is still reading at home. The benefits of reading with an adult daily have a huge impact. Please ensure the children are bringing their reading books into school to change them frequently.

HOMEWORK- Please support your child with their homework. Homework books must be signed by a parent and handed in on a Wednesday so that they can be marked and prepared to be handed back on the Friday. Please continue to learn times tables- even if these are not set.

SWIMMING- I am pleased to say we are continuing with our swimming lessons this term. The improvement some children made during last term was amazing and such an important life skill to have. Thank you very much for ensuring your child is in school for 8.25am every Tuesday morning, it is very helpful in allowing us to get to the baths on time.

PE KITS- Please remember to keep your PE kit in school so that it is available for all PE lessons.
