Our visit to Greater Manchester Recycling Centre
We have been busy looking at existing products and taking our ideas for them... We have reflected really well to understand the positives and negatives of these products, thinking how we can use these ideas to improve our own designs.

Looking at levers, linkages and pivots and using our learning to create our own models!

Class Assembly
The children were very excited to share their learning today and did a great job explaining what we have been up to this half term!
Our wonderful products... ready for testing!
Welcome back!
Dates for your diary: Year 3 Class Assembly Friday 7th February and Our school Project Based Learning 'Inventors' Workshop' Friday 14th February afternoon.
Welcome back to a new term, new year and new decade! We hope you had a lovely Christmas break and are ready for a short but learning-filled half term! This is the time of year where children need to be secure with everything that they have learned and ensure that they practice and perfect anything that they don’t quite understand, both in school and at home.
Over this half term we will be investigating the question ‘Can you design like Dyson?’ as part of our whole-school question 'Are all inventions good?' Our science will look at forces and magnets.
We started with a problem... look at the litter! Our Learning Challenge will look at a solution to helping clean up our local area through invention and innovations!
James Dyson
This week we have been researching the well-known design engineer James Dyson and his story of success in innovation and design. We have been considering existing products, assessing their design features and wondering how we can incorporate some of these features into our designs.
Some of our wonderful learning is displayed in the hall - come along to Celebration Assembly on Friday mornings to hear all about our exciting learning!

Trust reflection area
Our wonderful 'trust tree' containing trust prayers and promises.

Look at our amazing design ideas!

We've been growing our confidence with our singing and adding actions!

Production!
As a design technologist we have been selecting materials and tools to create our final products, involving cutting, shaping, smoothing and drilling. We will continue to apply our knowledge of levers and linkages to these products.
