Welcome to Summer Term 2018

Field and Canal Walk

Year 1 went for a walk down to the field near the canal!  We stretched our noticing muscles by searching for minibeasts!  We lifted rocks and stones and searched in trees and under hedges to see what we could find!

Chicks in Year 1

We have been extremely busy looking after the eggs that the farmer dropped off for us.  We have learnt about the life cycle of a chicken – from an egg to a chicken.  We found out that it was very important to keep the unhatched eggs warm and at the correct temperature in the incubator.  We were then lucky enough to watch several of them hatch!  They looked very stick and gooey at first, but the heat helped them to dry.  Once the chicks were dry, they were moved to a bigger box with sawdust, food and water!  Once they were stronger, we were allowed to stroke them and then hold them if we wanted to!!  It was fantastic!!!
