Subject Vision Art

Our Vision for Art St George's

‘Let all that you do be done in Love’ 1 Corinthians 16:14

The example of Jesus Christ and the Good news that he brings inspire St George’s school to be a place of hope and a caring and inclusive community in which we all love to learn and learn to love

‘Art is not just a subject to learn, but an activity that you can practise with your hands, your eyes, your whole personality.’ Quentin Blake

Art stimulates creativity, imagination and inventiveness. It enables children to communicate what they see, feel and think. Children experiment with their ideas, their use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. At St George’s we want our children to learn to be artists. Our aim is for pupils to develop a passion and commitment to the subject and be exposed to a variety of artists and cultures to broaden their knowledge and experiences.

Why were words so vital to the war?

Year 6 have made posters of Winston Chuchill. They used pen and ink to add line, tone and perspective using a tonal wash. They added pattern, movement, newspaper print outs to add detail, and interest to their work.

'O Little Town of Bethlehem'

Year 6 created Christmas decorations based on the song 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' for a Christmas tree competition. They used polymer clay and Shrinkle plastic.
