World Book Day- Thursday 3rd March

We came to school dressed in our pyjamas read for a book in bed to celebrate World Book Day.

We enjoyed taking part in a 'Masked Reader' competition in our family groups and reading our new class novel 'Beowulf' in the afternoon with a Fairtrade hot chocolate (supporting Fairtrade Fortnight too).

SCIENCE- Changing State

Melting.png

We predicted whether the small chocolate button would melt quicker than the giant chocolate button before we carried out or experiement. We used our make-shift bunsen burner and tripod to test the time that the chocolates melted. We used our noticing skills and made links with our other knowledge to explain our results.

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT

We enjoyed celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight and learning more about how we can support people in other areas of the world. We baked some buns for the bake sale and they were delicious.

We also designed posters about Fairtrade asking for people's support.

SCIENCE WEEK

We had great fun during the week. There was something every day linked to science that we were able to learn about. We enjoyed all the scientific investigations and making careful observations. We invited parents in on Thursday to join in with some of our activities. It was really exciting taking part in the challenges. Thank you to the parents who came and joined in.

We have prepared our area outside for the meadow. We dug out all of the weeds and moved the stones and big branches to other places in the ECO area and raked it over before we all scattered our wild flower seeds. We are so excited to see what happens in the coming months....

GEOGRAPHY- How can I be a good citizen of the world?

We have researched how we can help improve our world by looking at what the problems are and possible solutions. We retrieved the vocabulary we have been learning and practised matching definitions with words. Using an atlas we identified countries and cities which cause the most land, sea or air pollution in the world. We were quite surprised by some of the data we were reading.

CELEBRATING EASTER 2022

We had a lovely week learning about the events during Holy Week. We learnt all about how Easter is a story of betrayal and trust and enjoyed watching clips from 'The Miracle Maker' to consolidate the stories we had read from the bible. We found out about how Peter and Judas betrayed Jesus and the importance of forgiveness.

Each class created a reflection board in church based on their focus of Easter and it was really interesting to go around each one to find out what everyone else had been learning. We enjoyed completing the different reflection and response activities.
