Information from Tameside

Click on the link below for additional information, support and guidance from the local authority.  There are lots of links relating to support for you as parents, and for activities that you might like to try with your child.

The attachment service are also offering help and advice to parents.  The poster below explains how to contact them if you have noticed behavioural changes in your child during this difficult time.

The links below will take you to pages that have lots of ideas to support mental health and well being.  Some children will be finding staying indoors tricky and some of the activities that are suggested might help them to feel less anxious, or give them an opportunity to use some extra energy, or give some ideas about how to relax.

Cosmic Yoga is a great way to help children relax, while at the same time strengthening muscles and keeping them active. There are lots of different themes and suitable for all ages.  Click on the link to find one to match your child's interests.

The children are very familar with the Five Ways to Wellbeing - we use them a lot in school to support our mental health and wellbeing.  It may not be the same as it usually is, but we can still CONNECT - facetime or skype a friend or relative,

BE ACTIVE - go for a walk with your family, or do a PE session in your house,

GIVE - make some cakes for your neighbours, or a card for someone special,

TAKE NOTICE - look for things to be thankful for in your home and out doors when you take your exercise, can you spot something you've never really noticed before?

KEEP LEARNING - you're all doing lots of learning at home, but if you wanted, you could take a rest from the learning being sent to you and choose something you're really interested in finding out more about.  You could teach us all something new when we're back in school.

There are lots of apps available to help children become more relaxed.  Smiling Mind is one that we use in school.  Ten minutes everyday can really help children to feel more relaxed and less anxious, and give them strategies to cope when they are feeling frustrated and worried.  There are lots to choose from such as Smiling Mind, Ninja Focus and MIndful Family to name a few, and they can all easily be downloaded onto a tablet or a phone.

Gross and Fine Motor Control

Below are some links and ideas for activities to help to develop gross and fine motor skills.  A little bit of practise everyday can make a huge difference.  Lots of children at school do short sessions daily to develop their skills to improve co-ordination, sequencing, muscle strength and handwriting.

BBC Dance Mat

Dough Disco
