Autumn Term in Reception
We are so impressed with how well all the children have settled into school - they are all confident and enthusiastic and exploring all the learning opportunities in the classroom. They are all eager to share the things that excite them and ask questions to discover answers to what they are curious about. Please see images in our galleries.
All the children in Reception have been gifted a PE bag, school PE T-shirt and PE shorts. Please send in PE pumps with your child's name inside that we can put inside their PE bag. These will stay in school for the days when the children do PE.
The children all have a St George's reading folder and we have already started on our journey to becoming confident and enthusiastic readers. When the children are ready, we will send a reading book home with a reading log for you to record when your child reads and how they enjoyed it. Please return these to school everyday. You can help your child to become confident readers by visiting the library and choosing some books, sharing books with your child and telling stories.
Who will help me?
Our Learning Challenge this half term is all about our community and the people who care for us and help us within it. We will be thinking about family, our friends, the school community and the place that we live to help us answer the question 'Who will help me?'
We have used the text 'Once there were Giants' by Martin Waddell to think about families and if they are all the same or if every family is different. We will be learning more about the diverse and exciting world that we live in.
Watch the video below to hear the story.
We have been thinking about all the things that make us special. We also explored how we are all different - we all like and dislike different things. What things do you like?
